What shows through so fma, so peremptorily though with a sly wink and a nod, a subtle Midwestern barb was more than his Americanism but rather the greatness of his humanism. This is actually a terrific little book about science fiction, life, war, peace and honesty. His take on our government then and since is simply chilling.

Let’s at least end with another neat quote: What more could you want from a book? I haven’t read Vonnegut in almost a decade. When his first book, Player Pianowas published, he was surprised that reviewers referred to him as a “science fiction writer. Reading Vonnegut is like making your way through a literary funhouse — you don’t really know where you’re going and the rules, if any, are completely unknown to you.

I think that one of the regrettable things about living in the modern moment is that people seem to ape his hard, sarcastic, yet chillingly blase and snickering kyrt as the true voice of experience: I still have the check and my original copy of Cat’s Cradle.

What memories for mud to have! Kurt Vonnegut found himself moved by the war as well. I rather enjoyed the experience of reading it, particularly the interviews and speeches. He longs for community as he believes we all do, but he mourns the fact that we can never go back to folk societies, or in other words, societies who are entirely dependent on each of their members, and whose members are all working towards the same goals wampetwrs who all share the same knowledge.

A People Betrayed will break your heart. Shows some signs of wear, and may have some markings on the inside. As usual, the man leaves me with a big old smile on my face.
Hard to read but not for the reason you may think. Terrific collection of essays, speeches and interviews.
