Sep 13, Brian rated it it was amazing. It’s concise and extremely informative. It definitely lays a solid foundation of the grid system, but it’s too extreme, to the point that it’s over doing it.
I struggled to practice the lessons I learned. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to get a strong fundamental understanding of grid systems in design. We moved on from Letraset and photo-typesetting after this book has published.

This book dissolves a lot Grid Systems in Graphic Design is a timeless classic that belongs on every designer and designer wannabee’s bookshelf. I thought everyone used grids. The countless redundancies, though, made it a little hard to read.

I don’t actually want my version to look THAT vintage This goes into great detail about establishing gutter type size columns and rows for achieving balance in design.

This book dissolves a lot of challenges one faces in layout work and eliminates confusion both for designers and the clients of their finished work. This is THE classic designers sjstems on grid systems. I found this book really useful. It offers many examples as it explains simple grid systems that are very versatile.
I’ll read it again when I get time. Beautifully printed in hardcover with black and red ink on soft fabric-like paper.

The systematic grids and margins explained in this book are extremely tight. No such luck for me.
